New Project - Light
Reverse light portraits
Picking four subjects and creating two portraits of each person. All done in the studio the first portrait will be taken using as "natural" light as possible. The second will show a transformation of the person through the reversing of light. Instead of light coming from above (The sky) it will come up from the below, a low powered light source will light them from behind and using using small LEDs light will come out from there eyes were it is usually absorbed. The light from the eyes will create a very human image, playing on the idea that the eyes are the window to the soul.
Invisible and Visible Connections
Through this project i would like to visually represent the extreme connectedness of people today. The obvious connections and the ones we dont even think of. The high degree of how networked people are both virtually and actually and how an event in one persons life either non-serious (Small accident, Embarrassment)or very serious ( Death, Suicide) ripples through these connections and effects such a massive range of people. A series of images done in the studio will represent these ideas using a number of different people. Portraits will be taken and then lasers or lines of light will be used to represent the connections . Some photos will be single individuals others will be a few people. The photos will be taken in dark with long exposures. A flash of light will be used to illuminate the individual(s) and then a torch/led or laser will be used to create many lines between the individuals and then out of the frame to represent the many many connections with others that are not present. The ones that cannot be seen and sometimes we dont realize are there but are
